What's new
Every release, newest first
1.0.0 2026-09-06
- AudioRun 1.0 — the first public release. It is release candidate 3 plus one fix; everything from the candidates and the betas below is in
- Offline maps: the size estimate in the download dialog now matches what a region really takes. It used to guess a few hundred kilobytes for an area that then showed up as about 19 MB, because every region also stores the shared map fonts, symbols and style (about 18 MB) on top of its own tiles. The estimate now counts those, learns from the regions you have already downloaded, and the storage-limit warning shows before you press Download rather than the download stopping at the limit
1.0.0-rc3 2026-09-05
- Release candidate 3 — rc2 plus one fix for runners who use miles. Nothing else changes
- Miles: your personal bests now include a one-mile best (the one-kilometre best steps aside), race distances read 5K and 10K, and the coach and the post-run analysis talk about them the same way. Best Performances re-scans your saved runs once for the new mile records the first time you open it
- Switching units in Settings now moves your announcement interval, coaching cadence and coaching start to the nearest mile-based (or kilometre-based) option straight away. Before, a runner who switched to miles could still get a callout at 0.62 mi until they visited Run Configuration
1.0.0-rc2 2026-09-02
- Release candidate 2 — a hardening pass before public release, aimed at phones and setups we haven't been able to test ourselves. No new features
- Location switched off on the phone: starting an outdoor run now tells you so, instead of quietly recording a run with no distance. If it gets switched off mid-run, the app says so out loud
- Announcements are always spoken by an English voice, whatever language your phone is set to. The voice picker in Settings now lists English voices
- No text-to-speech engine installed or enabled? Settings › Voice & Speech now says so, with a shortcut to the system's speech settings, and you get a heads-up when a run starts
- If you granted only approximate location, the app now asks specifically for precise location and explains why it needs it
- More robust startup: a damaged settings file or a misbehaving secure-storage keystore no longer keeps the app from opening
- Links and "open settings" buttons no longer crash on phones without a web browser or without a given settings page
- Layout: removed the double status-bar gap on the session detail, edit, feedback, profile and best-performances screens; tab labels and titles stay on one line at large font sizes; status-bar icons follow the app's light/dark theme
1.0.0-rc1 2026-08-30
- Release candidate — the beta feature set is complete and frozen; this build is the 1.0.0 candidate, moving from closed to open testing. From here on it's verification runs and polish only
- Fixed: when an offline-map download sat right at the storage limit, the Download button could flicker rapidly between enabled and disabled at some zoom levels. The storage warning now sits on top of the map preview and the button holds steady
1.0.0-beta17 2026-08-29
- Elevation in your announcements — a new optional "Elevation Change" callout tells you how much you've climbed and descended since the last announcement ("climbed 12 meters, descended 4 meters" — feet if you run imperial). Off by default, drag it into your announcement order like the others; flat stretches simply stay silent
- The AI coach understands race effort — on a run with a timed distance goal, high heart rate late in the race is treated as exactly what it is: earned race effort. No more "ease back" warnings while you're closing out a well-paced 5K — while going out too hot in the first third still gets called out, with your target pace instead of vague advice
1.0.0-beta16 2026-08-27
- Max heart rate lives in one place — set it (or let the age estimate handle it) in your Runner Profile; the separate Settings configurator is gone, and heart-rate zones everywhere follow the same number
- Big stability pass — two full reviews of the app's screens landed dozens of fixes: typing your age, max HR or goal time no longer flickers or drops digits, the training-goal switch responds instantly, quick settings toggles can't overwrite each other, and a run's detail page opens noticeably faster
- Downloading an offline map now survives rotating your phone — and keeps the exact area you framed
- The voice preview speaks with your chosen voice, and recovers on its own if the speech engine has a hiccup
- Exporting a GPX file while leaving the screen can no longer produce a corrupt file
- Accessibility: switch rows are easier to hit, and TalkBack reads settings, charts and badges more naturally
1.0.0-beta15 2026-08-23
- Arrange your announcements — the "What to Announce" list is now the spoken order: drag the handles to put distance, time, pace and the rest in the order you want to hear them, and the demo button plays them back your way. Split times stay pinned as their own callout
- New Profile page — your runner profile and race targets moved off the Run tab into their own page, so run setup is less crowded
- Theme choice is now simply System, Light or Dark
- The privacy consent message is shorter, so it fits comfortably on smaller screens
- The in-app feedback form now reaches the official AudioRun contact address
1.0.0-beta14 2026-08-22
- Heart rate now reconnects mid-run — if your HR sensor or watch drops out during a run, AudioRun now keeps trying quietly in the background and picks the signal up again within about a minute of it coming back.
1.0.0-beta13 2026-08-13
- Running in miles! — announcements and coaching intervals offer proper support for imperial units (quarter-mile callouts instead of a "0.62 mi" interval), and pace previews, personal bests, the speed distribution, edit-screen labels and the voice preview all follow your unit setting
- Weather is now free for everyone — it debuted as a Pro feature; from this release Pro gates AI coaching and nothing else
- Training goal time now takes hours and minutes — setting up a 1:50 half no longer means typing 110 minutes
- Rename a run — the edit screen has a name row above Trim and Clean, and the new name follows through to your history
- Readable charts in run details — distance ticks land on whole kilometers (or miles), pace reads as minutes:seconds, and every axis is labeled with its unit in your chosen system
- Fixed: typing in the race-target minutes field no longer jumps the cursor or force-pads a leading zero
- The GPS badge moved to the top-right and the compass to the bottom-right, so map controls no longer overlap the scale bar
- For beta testers: the beta's automatic free Pro ends with this release — Pro now follows your Google Play subscription. Free access for existing testers is being arranged individually; get in touch via the in-app feedback form if you're affected
1.0.0-beta10 2026-08-07
- Weather — outdoor runs now record the conditions at the start: temperature, feels-like, humidity, wind and sky. You hear them shortly after "Run started", and they appear on the run card and in the run details. Pro feature; on by default once you've accepted the privacy notice, and switchable off in Settings
- Coaching keeps working through provider hiccups — if the AI service is struggling, the app switches to a backup model automatically instead of going quiet
- A debrief that couldn't be generated at the finish — no signal at the end of a run, for instance — is now produced automatically once you're back online, rather than being lost
- Coaching requests now travel through AudioRun's own server, so the app no longer carries AI credentials and the AI provider never sees your device's network address. Nothing about your run is stored on that server
- The privacy policy is now one tap away in Settings, under Privacy
- Fixed: the announcement demo played split times even when Split Times was switched off
1.0.0-beta9 2026-07-31
- Post-run debriefs are now generated by a reasoning model that thinks through your run before speaking — clearer story of how your run actually unfolded
- Debriefs compare your first and second half and call out your fastest and slowest kilometers — using your exact numbers, never estimates
- If the debrief service is unavailable, the app automatically falls back so you still get your debrief
1.0.0-beta8 2026-07-23
- Updated for Android 16 — the app now targets the latest Android version, ahead of Google Play's 2026 requirements
- Under-the-hood build and toolchain updates; no feature changes
1.0.0-beta7 2026-07-20
- Runs on the same route are grouped automatically — see your rank, best and previous times, and per-km comparisons in the run detail
- Runs on different routes now compare on the stretches they share
- Fixed phantom "surge" splits from GPS re-fixes after a pause — splits now add up to your real distance
- Post-run debrief accounts for your pauses and cites correct heart-rate zones
- Coach acknowledges when you resume after a stop, and no longer invents run streaks
1.0.0-beta6 2026-07-17
- Sharper AI coach: recognizes record-pace moments, stays honest when you outrun your own plan, and invents fewer numbers
- Mid-run check-ins repeat themselves less and stay grounded in what's actually happening
- Coach gives credit for uphill efforts as they happen, and post-run debriefs stick to your real numbers
- Map scale bar follows your km/miles setting
1.0.0-beta5 2026-07-16
- Offline maps: the download map now opens at your location instead of Berlin
- New my-location button when picking a region to download
